Granger, years ago Pete and Laura had property on Smith Moutain- before the lake. They had the Army Corp. stake out where the water level would be after the dam was built and flooded. P&L built a house and boathouse, and that had a nice platform on the roof which is where my band set up a few times in the 70/80s. (Traveled from DC-MD suburbs.) One time this sailboat came up the finger of water and dropped anchor, then they jumped into the water and swam ashore for the party. This was before I was into boats, and I thought it was SO NEAT! A guy named Duffy(ski boat) put us up in his trailer- he has a bar in Lynchburg, I believe it is. I think the dam is at the far end of the lake- in the pic?

No... that is a bag that holds the wash boards for my companionway.

Went to the St. Pete Boat Show on 12/3, and was on the foredeck of something eminently forgettable, when I heard screams of fun and laughter. Looked up to see a kid's race through the basin! It was fun to see 8 or so prams, as this was the boat my dad learned to sail in, not all that far from where this picture was taken. The kids held up two 50' power boats trying to get back to the docks from demo rides, too!

No special effects or lighting. It was raining hard with some intresting light. We were anchored out for two days in the rain. Got the camera out and experimented a bit. Took a shot looking backwards through a binocular lens at some piled up line under the dodger. That was interesting..
