Is that during a race??? If so thats a very delicate position to be wing-on-wing with that faster boat to leeward!
@Jackdaw - For those of us that don't race, can you explain? Is that during a race??? If so thats a very delicate position to be wing-on-wing with that faster boat to leeward!
That's really funny!@Jackdaw
I've only raced a few times when I was about 12 and just did what I was told... so I've never really raced before but from your description it sounds like slow motion jousting.
It was during a race, I realized I was windward and was doing my best to keep clear. But actually, we were the faster boat, we came from half a mile behind and overtook them right at the finish line.Is that during a race??? Poling out a spin is legal, as long as:It was during a race, I realized I was windward and was doing my best to keep clear. But actually, we were the faster boat, we came from half a mile behind and overtook them right at the finish line.

The video of this race is on the "racing" forum. There was another boat to windward of me (photo from leeward boat earlier in this thread). We were using a boat hook as whisker pole on our code 0, maybe not totally legal. I've got a code 3 on order.
Need crew for the race this Saturday.
The race the Saturday before the Super Bowl is the "Judge Smails" regatta.
Pretty sure this'll help sales. We should make a calendar with these shots... @Kermit ?????
