Thought long and hard....

I was given a H23 that had been left open with everything for the boat laying on the hull floor for nine years and rebuilt her to a dream. I have a very young auburn-haired God-Daughter that is very tiny for her age and an Irish Setter bird dog that is extremely tiny for her breed. I call them both "Munchkin" for a nick name. They are both nosey and always had to be part of what I was doing on the boat rebuild. When I finished the boat, I named her after my two girls, "Munchkin"! Both sat in the boat and my God-Daughter (age seven) read the re-naming ceremony I found online and then poured champagne on the bow. My setter is my First Mate all summer and my hunting partner in the late fall and winter and I take my God-Daughter out when I can. How can a man go wrong naming his boat after two cute red heads? Cat Sized

I am actualy looking for a name of a new boat recently purchased. Since our cat is our only child we thought that Cat Sized would be a catchy boat name. This of course plays off of capsized.

Acronym-from home

So many boat names-so little time! I took the first names of my wife and two girls ( boats historically named for females ) Anita, Charisse and Tammi, hence ACT 1 for first boat then ACT 2 for second etc.

'Bout Time

How about: 'Bout Time. Said with a Scottish accent, it sounds like "Boat Time". Also, it about time I bought a proper boat, one with a sail, vs. a 250HP engine. The other thing it hints at... life is all about time spend doing what you love.

Prom Queen

While wintering in St Peterburg FL, I came across a wondersail boat moored there Her was "Prom Queen". Not really an extra special name until you read the name of the dingy that of "First Runner Up".

Windabout

I had just gotten the boat and was trying to come up with a name and was driving when I came on a sign that said 'Roundabout' ahead - one of those traffic rotary things - dawned on me that 'Windabout' would work just fine for the type of sailing we do which is to just go arouond wherever the wind takes us.

In Lieu Of

Had been saving for a downpayment on a place of my own, but set that dream back a ways by going for the boat instead.

Mast Confusion

After soo many names and choices i didn't have any name that just jumped out at you. So we had a name the boat contest, winner getting a day of sailing, dinner, champagne and a nite of quiet on the boat. Breakfast the next day and again another day of sailing ( not to bad)While enjoying a few drinks with some friends, the name the boat issue came up and i told everyone, so many names i'm just getting confused so a friend said thats it " Mast Confusion". We all laughted and guess what thats the name and rightfully so for a 30' Newport. I am the 3rd owener and i went back to the original name and have denamed it twice and christened it Mast Confusion. I now sail everyday with confidence and a sence that the Sea Gods are some what happy

Airborne

I purchased the boat used and it had already been named. I'm too superstitous to change the name and actually have grown to like the name.

Dream Hunter

After buying our new Hunter three years ago, we agonized over a name for a couple of months. On a plane trip, Gail was day dreaming about the boat and what we were going to do over the next few years. The name just popped out and what better - a dream of a boat so why not "Dream Hunter"......

boat name

Both my wife and I are jimmy buffett fans (parrotheads) so we took a line out of one of his songs and named our boat "Heard the Call" I guess it could also be applied to hearing the call to the sea.

half the fun

After having everyone in the family put in their two cents we landed on Te-Keel-La. Had that party and nautical theme. Tequila by itself can be tough to swallow so we bought a dingy and named it Triple Sec to make the drink complete.

OVERTIME

When I bought my Catalina 22 last year it was already named OVERTIME. At first, I wanted to change the name but then decided it was more appropriate to keep it as it was; being self-employed as I am. Since then, whenever I am asked "how's business", my standard reply, without explanation, is always "I've been working alot of overtime lately". Seems to be an accurate response when business is either up or down.
