I wish to refurbish my teak below due to fading and some water stains. Is there enough veneer for light sanding? Do I just apply teak oil. I have a Hunter 280, circa 1998.

The veneer is VERY thin. The PO ruined our salon table by trying to fix water stains from a mast leak and sanding through the veneer to the plywood below. If the teak hasn't been previously varnished, try rubbing it with bronze wool (medium or fine, and DON'T use steel wool), hit stains with teak brightner or if it's really bad use oxalic acid ($10 at West Marine), then re-apply Dalys Seafin, which is the finish Hunter originally used.

Thank you so much. Your advice is worth hundreds of dollars and 10 less headaches! It was exactly what I was looking for and took a long shot. I wish you well and hope someone returns the favor since I probably can't.
