Tachometer replacement

Hi, my tachometer in my 1986 Catalina 27 just gave it up and decided it wasnt' going to work anymore. Can someone tell me if I have to get one from Catalina to fit the whole or can I replace it from another maker? Also, what is involved with installing a new one? I am thinking of doing it myself. Not sure what is involved with hooking it up to the engine. Thanks

Tachometer

Seaward fabricates most of the electrical panel and engine control panel for Catalina. I'd start by calling them. 562-699-7997. The engine control panel pops out from the front by removing phillips head screws. Wire the new tach to the connector block behind the panel. Good luck.
