Only if it's your initial oil

I wouldn't change from traditional to synthetic unless I was starting with synthetic. Synthetic would work fine if that's all that has been in there.

Ratings Caution

Motor oil must be rated for diesel engine service. This is a different rating than used for gasoline engines. Consult your engine manual for the proper rating codes. --Ron

Synthetic Oil that is made now is great for just about any engine.Diesel engine Synthetic Oil rated type is very good. The trouble is cleaning the old oil out.It will need to be flush at least 4 to 6 times. The old oil all of it has to be removed.Remember to take the valve cover off also and use a spay bottle to flush everything clean. The oil pan also needs to be cleaned.I use it in mine and my wife's boat.A diesel engine is good for 8000 to 15000 hours if it is maintain.
