Cable Replacement
First check the transmission linkage at the transmission itself. If you can manually change gears there, then it's probably the cable. If it is the cable, it's a tedious but not too difficult job. If you have Edson wheel steering (as I do), Edson has a good info sheet they can send you on the job. You first remove the old cable and measure it, then buy the replacement. If you want you can attach a trailer/feed line to the old cable as you remove it to assist in running the new cable, but I didn't find it necessary. You then run the new cable. Hardest part was accessing the bracket inside the pedestal that hold the cables in place; mine was so corroded that I had to ultimately pry it out and replace it (Edson part). All in all I spent a full day on the job -- would be less if you have no problems with that darn bracket; and I'm not the handiest guy around.Post back if you have pedestal steering and any other details of your problem and maybe we can diagnose further.Mike TurnerS/V AmityLong Beach
