I also would try to simplify on the mixes that accompany each liquor. I have my rum and my scotch both with water but some people like soda water, coke or 7-up with them. Tequila is a difficult one as you need the margarita mix. Vodka usually requires juices or mixes. Beer and wine are simple. Most important many of these drinks will require ice which is not easy to keep aboard a boat. Perhaps that is why I drink with water as it does not even need to be chilled.

Isn't it really nice when the folks here you trust the most with technical information also have the best taste in liquid refreshments! :plus::):):)

As far as tequila is concerned, we "invented" what we call "The Poor Man's Margarita:" forget the triple sec and lime juice; limeade and tequila with a slice of lime, salted rim --- Done! :poke::yeah::yeah::yeah::kick:

Enjoy. :dancing::dancing::dancing:

I use the BYOB concept. That way they get to introduce you to new ideas.

Isn't this the same group of sailors that claim they single hand 99% of the time...?
I'm happy with a 12 pack of Miller Lite.

If you drink scotch (single malts preferred) I will be happy to share. If other than that you need to BYOB. If I come to your boat I'll be packing my own. Everyone around here is the same. We get rocks glasses from the dollar store because it is uncivilized to drink good booze or even bad from plastic or worse, shudder, paper.

^LOL love it!

On stocking a bar for a party, I like to try and get some of the most popular brands, or, try to satisfy the people that nothing else will do. Budwiser comes to mind. not my taste but I know guys that only drink that. and pretty much everyone will drink a Heineken. and at the sailing club its red stripe or go home....

For day to day stock, on a boat I want a few liquors that can be drank (drunk) room temp and no mixer
tequila (patron/1800) for shots, or flavored vodka or rum. maybe some fireball.
I'd probably go with a jim beam over chivas in my bar, but the cuban's want their scotch. so I gotta have that at a party.

thanks for the replies everyone this has been interesting to say the least....after careful review and ciphering i have come to the conclusion that there is no common thread in relation to brands ...but there is some sort of relation to the color choices....brown,white,red,and rose...along with a little amber in the mix...so i am thinking that the advice for byob is a good choice along with me hitting the local most popular ABC store and seeking advice from the proprietor on the colors ...i also noticed there is no traditional beer or ale for a welcoming offering either so maybe somewhere along the line Phil the administrator will post a query on this subject in order to narrow it down to a manageable selection ....but for now i will just have to go with my gut instincts ...you all have been very enthusiastic and sharing....Regards from clueless in the bay Woodster

I've been imaging you with a homemade spreadsheet with all the suggestions lined up. Then selecting the most common suggestions whether you know what they are or not. Just seems like a Woodster thing to do. Asking Phil to create a poll and then talking to the local ABC store sounds like a winner. I'd be surprised if Phil didn't jump on this.

WOODSTER... WHY TAKE ANYONE'S WORD ON THIS? TRY ALL OF THEM AND MAKE YOUR OWN DECISION. Report back when you get out of rehab. I see by the Lexan drinkware that Phil must have some booze in the office. Maybe they could add a selection to the SBO store?:clap:

Now if i use my selection i would like to give it a monaca in honor of SBO...maybe something like the SBO Collection or something like that or maybe have Phil post that as a survey question then after the Title is established we can no longer say like a drunken sailor from that time on we have to say like a classy drunken sailor lord its hard trying to be a respectable wineo

Let's see. It's your boat, your money and your taste. I'd be honored to have a Budweiser on your boat. And I might even be convinced to try a liquor drink. It's great to be a gracious host and it'll be good for all of us to be gracious guests.
