I’d hand crank it before changing all the fluids. Fresh fluids in a sieved motor is still a seized motor1 cylinders can often be turned over by hand if you have a crank handle. If it was me, after changing fluids and impeller as @capta suggested, I would Try to turn it over by hand first...make sure the piston isn’t frozen.

A popular oil choice for Yanmar diesels is Shell Rotella T (not the synthetic version) 15w40, available in Walmart. I change it annually since I only put 30-40 hours per year on the engine. The gear oil is dependent on the transmission, and you should be able to find a metal nameplate with the recommendation and confirm what your manual says. Yes, automotive oil works fine in these motors and transmissions. Timely oil and filter changes are one of the most important maintenance items to prolong the life of your diesel.I’m rounding up maintenance materials, filters, belt, impellers, etc. I have a super basic question. From what can tell from the manual, engine oil should be 10w30 or 15w40 and the gear oil SAE #20 or #30. Can you use regular automotive lubricants or are more specialized lubricants required?
I do not understand the first bullet point on the engine oil recommendations. I’ve attached excerpts from the manuel for consideration.
