Have a wont start situation. Does our C310 - year model 2003 - have
any history of starter or ignition switch failure? Having mech look at
problem now. Just installed new batteries. About 310 eng hours. Getting fuel so almost
certain electrical problem. Have great faith in mechanic and sure he
will find problem just wondering about history.

Did you try the little red reset button near the head exchanger?
No didn't know there was one there. Would that be near heat exchanger?
Forward of HE on stb side? Thanks for info. Is this a circuit breaker?

I found multiple problems last year in the starter circuit. The real problem in mine was the glow plug solenoid was bad. I replaced my starter button when I found it badly corroded and later found the buzzer in the engine panel had developed a short. Search for glow plug solenoid to find the original post. I don't know how to post a link.

Posting LINKS

I don't know how to post a link.
Here's how:

1. find the post you want to link to by going to it

2. copy the URL from the top URL address

3. Go back to your "post reply" text, and paste that URL

It is secreted away so no one can find it. It's behind the bracket as shown here. Probably have to feel around for it.
Thanks a hugh bunch. Really appreciate the pictures. Thanks for other comments.

Thanks. Found the re set button. Problem turned out to be broken
ignition wire at starter. Had sharp factory bend at connection and
vibration broke it. Thanks for all the help and advice.

I had the same issue last summer. Wire fell off at connection to starter. Hard to see over there, but tech put a new connector on the wire and got it back onto the starter. Not an ideal connection design, but not surfeit is a design defect.

Nope, but here's why. Manufacturer A makes the starter solenoid and perhaps the starter, too. Engine builder straps the starter/solenoid onto the engine and then puts an alternator right next to it. Go figgure...

The design of each component is just fine, it's when they all try to take up the same real estate! :)

I've been successful at removing and reinstalling the quick connect on the ignition wire to the solenoid without removing the alternator. Just need two mirrors, a clavacle and a ouja board! I first did that in 2004 when the old fuseholder failed. You guys are lucky, you have breakers! How 21st century of you! :)
