I have some small spots off rust on the spokes of my wheel, and a couple of places on stanchions.

What do you folks use to clean the rust away and keep it away?

How much does it take for the pushpit and pulpit of a 30 ft boat with the life line fittings, a pint,a quart?

I agree...Go with the Spotless Stainless! Barkeepers & similar stuff will clean off the rust but it'll come back cuz you're removing any protective coating.
On our old boat we add a nice coat of wax as further protection since there's allot of pitting.

I would get a quart, because it's cheaper per unit of volume, and it doesn't go bad. The stuff is a little pricey, but it works, and it works while you are doing something else. Just make sure you keep it wet. I try not to work in direct sunlight, so it dries slower, and I use less product keeping it wet. You can also cover the item with a wet micro-fiber cloth to keep it wet.
