I have a St2000 on my 23 foot sailboat it is the same unit with a better drive for the ram. Do not oil the ram as the seal dozent like oil and the dirt that it will retain. Take the time to install it right as the angle and distance from the piovet point at the rudder to the piviot point for the ram on the tiller are very important. Defender has a large selection of mounting brackets and ram extentions. down load the manuel from Raymarine and follow it. you will find it simple to install if you follow the instructions. I find this unit about bullet proof except with a following sea it sometimes gets confused. Balanceing the boat with the sails before turning in to the auto mode is the key. I am retired and have the time to sail almost every day and use a 40 watt solar panel to charge my battery and never have power problems in the last 6 years of use. when you get it up and running you will wonder why you waited so long to have one.
