Found a huge hole in the head of the Atomic 4 on my newly aquired '77 C27. Any cost effective replacement suggestions?

Try Universal!

I believe the Universal (Westerbeke) M-25XPB was originally designed as a retrofit for the old Atomic 4's. It was designed for people who wanted to get away from a gas engine and move to diesel.

Sole Diesel

My old atomic 4 died last year, I replaced it with a Sole mini 17 Diesel. Had to put in new beds but the old ones were in really bad condition anyway. At the time these engines were being sold at quite a deep discount which made it very attractive. Another option is the Beta engine, try WWW.soundmarinediesel.com. The beta comes with the same mount spacing as the A4
