Well, it is pleasing to see water dripping off the boat for a change rather than accumulating on top in a big frozen pile! I hit the boat yard yesterday and accomplished the following:
Removal of port-side winch for dissassembly and cleaning/lubrication.
Removal of port side teak step and cleat in preparation for installation of wood trim (stay tuned). As it turns out the original bolts holding the cleat were WAY too long. Also, I was happy to see that Hunter really beefed-up the layers of fiberglass in this area. I had originally thought that they had cheaped-out because there are no backing plates of any kind under the winch or cleat, but it appears pretty substantial. I will still be installing some hardwood backing material but it is not as dire of a situation as one would think. I am not happy with the small washers used however. The toe rail bolts are not backed-up by anything though. I may reinforce this area with a backing at some point as I work my way through stanchion bolt rebedding over the course of the summer.
Removal of alternator for testing.
Installation of new engine zinc anode.
Installation of new sliding hatch/drop board latch and lock. (Pretty brass thing now!)
Today I will be dropping off the mast step for stripping and powdercoating...a dark, navy blue which will contrast well with the polished, stainless base plate for running the halyards aft!
I'm glad spring is finally here...not sure about the Admiral though....:naughty:
