Well, it is pleasing to see water dripping off the boat for a change rather than accumulating on top in a big frozen pile! I hit the boat yard yesterday and accomplished the following:

Removal of port-side winch for dissassembly and cleaning/lubrication.

Removal of port side teak step and cleat in preparation for installation of wood trim (stay tuned). As it turns out the original bolts holding the cleat were WAY too long. Also, I was happy to see that Hunter really beefed-up the layers of fiberglass in this area. I had originally thought that they had cheaped-out because there are no backing plates of any kind under the winch or cleat, but it appears pretty substantial. I will still be installing some hardwood backing material but it is not as dire of a situation as one would think. I am not happy with the small washers used however. The toe rail bolts are not backed-up by anything though. I may reinforce this area with a backing at some point as I work my way through stanchion bolt rebedding over the course of the summer.

Removal of alternator for testing.

Installation of new engine zinc anode.

Installation of new sliding hatch/drop board latch and lock. (Pretty brass thing now!)

Today I will be dropping off the mast step for stripping and powdercoating...a dark, navy blue which will contrast well with the polished, stainless base plate for running the halyards aft!

I'm glad spring is finally here...not sure about the Admiral though....:naughty:

Right on man! Its warming up in NJ also. So much so that I can actually put a dent in the massive project list I have before launch. I'm hitting the boat yard all this weekend and parts of next week to paint my hull a nice deep blue with interlux brightside, repaint my non-skids in a nice beige color, rebuild my topside hatch windows, replace the exhaust elbow on my engine, clean the heads/valves on my engine, and finally fixing those damn broken deck plugs for my anchor and steaming lights.

I had to wait because it was cold but not anymore! Its going to be above 40 degrees for most of the coming week which means that paint and glue can properly cure! Woooohooooo!

Look for 2 anodes if you have a 2GM like mine, one aft and the other on the starboard side.
Only one anode, port side. I have an SB8 engine...which reminds me...I'm going to cast some new parts for the engine myself since it now appears that thermostat covers are unobtainable now. The old one has seen better days. It has a crack (weldable) and the thermostat hole is elongated due to corrosion.
