Hello all, I was rigging the boat for the newly acquired asymmetrical and was wondering what the consensus was on halyard routing. Our mast has the spinnaker halyard run up to the masthead and over the sheave next to the Jib Halyard. There is an optional halyard lead down about 3 feet. If I run it from below I was going to run it up to a block and if I left it where it was it only will lead fair if I forgo the block on the masthead bracket. My mast is the one on the left. Not the far left. You can see the masthead clearly in my avatar.

Thanks

Thanks Paul, Mine was on the top of the masthead and I rerouted it down to where yours is also and it worked great. I believe you attach your tack to the bail on the anchor bow roller. have you had any issues with that at all?

No.

If you are worried ......use a larger bail and bolt maybe.

Questions for Truckman and PaulJ

truckman, Mine is in the center.......................... paulj :troll:
PaulJ, In the pictures it looks a bit odd where your spinnaker line is coming out. Is that correct? It seems that the spinnaker halyard should come out right near the top so it would not be near the furler. Reason I ask is I got a block for fathers day and plan on re-routing my spinnaker halyard like yours. :D

Truckman, Did you ever order your spinnaker? I am thinking about ordering an asymmetric and was wondering what kind you got and the deal. ;) I am thinking of getting one that is dark blue with some logo stuff on it.

Why yes I did. I got a G3 Genneker from North Sails direct with the sock and the boat show discount I got it for about 1500. I have to say I am happy with it. I am able to sail upwind to 40 degrees apparent and downwind to 140. Message me if you need more details.

Truck,
Wow, 1500! I recently got a quote from the Annapolis North loft for 2500 for the G3 with snuffer. Perhaps I have some leverage to deal now. Please tell us the dimensions of your G3 if you have them handy. Looks great flying.

%$## PaulJ Right Again

Finally got my spinnaker block mounted. It took about 2 hours and two trips up the mast, but I finally wound up having to re-route my spinnaker halyard through the lower exit point and then up to the block like PaulJ pictured. 2nd trip was to make a grabber tool out of a piece of coat hanger to reach inside mast at the lower exit point to grab my spinnaker halyard and pull it out to re-route it. I originally thought I could use the halyard right off the sheave it was on, but the angle was bad as the forestay bolt and bracket was in the way. :cussing:

When I saw PaulJ's picture of his halyard I thought that was a bit awkward, but there is no other way as I did try running it the other way and it just did not work.
