When I bought my 1985, Catalina 27 with a Universal M-18 it came with a folding prop. I never race so the folding prop is no advantage to me. Does anyone know the specs. for a fixed two blade prop or know where I can get them? Has anyone run a three blade on a 27? If so how much additional drag?

Three blade

Roger (there aren't that many of us!) I have a cat 27 standard with an 5411 Universal (11 hp) and a three blade prop. I found an unused two blade on board when I bought the boat. I can't quantify the drag, but with the smaller engine, I want the bite of the three blade. Works well, even in adverse wind, waves and current, for a very occasional club racer. I have seen the specs somewhere for the two blade. Maybe someone has that info at their fingertips for you. But the three blade sure works for me, even in reverse. Roger

Two or Three ?

I have a 27 tallrig , the marina that I keep it in has a very strong current . The Univeral 18 I have has a hard time fighting this with the 2 blade prop. I going to the 3 blade prop on this winter haul out , to give me more control . You may want to consider this feature about the 3 blade . The 2 blade works fine , but it is missing out when you need that control for docking and quick response .
