I am pricing out new furler genoas for SRWK Cat 30. Has anyone any experience with sails from Catalina Direct by Ulman? I have also considered Cruising Direct, Sails East, Airforce and Quantum? I was also intrigued by Somerset Sails Cruz-Radial design. Any feedback on any/all of the above would be helpful.

I ordered a mainsail on February 11th and called them today to check on what's going on. First they said it was on hold, then they said it was not on hold but being sent overseas for "some work". They took an initial deposit of $200 and could not tell me when I would get it. It's gone beyond the six weeks they initially told me. I'm starting to wonder what's going on.

I recently purchased a new Main for my 30' TR from Doyle. The service was very good, the quality excellent and there were no delays. I'm very happy with the sail and with my experience with Doyle which I contacted through this website. They give discounts for Catalina owners too.

I have purchased both Air Force and CruisingDirect sails. I was satisfied with both companies. I believe Air Force is better quality, but the price will be also. They will have more options. You can't beat CD prices but they are limited in sail cloth choices. If you talk to Air Force, get quotes for different cloths and quality, i.e. coastal cruising versus offshore quality. It might be worth it to spend more bucks for the extra set of reef points and the heavy duty seams of the offshore quality.

I bought a Quantum furling genoa last year. I recieved great service from knowledgable sailors that were able to go through the pro's and con's of different sizes 130/135/150 and how that affected my particular type of boat. Also the types of construction and options to make furling easier and more effective. There are cheaper sails out there but you get what you pay for, and after learning how the options affect the performance of my boat I got a sail that is fast goes upwind very well, reefs and furls effectively. The sail provides more forward drive and less heel which make me and especially my wife and guests happy.

Help me figure this one out. I called a local Doyle loft and requested a price on a Cat 30TR cruising main with 2 reef points. Price: $2600! On line here, same main, $1600. Not impressed with Doyle at this point
