A few weeks or so ago, someone was asking about a yellow reel for storing the power cords and water hoses. Well, we went to the state fair here and saw one today. Both my wife and I were impressed with the thing, at first. After thinking about it for a while, we decided it wasn't such a great idea. To use this thing, you need to first thread the power cord through the center of the unit so you have half of the cord on one side, and the other half on the other side. When you want to use it, you unreel it from both sides, and you end up with this unit about half way between the shore plug and boat plug. So if you are using a 50' power cord on a 30-40' boat, you pretty much have all the power cords out on the deck, that also means you now have this thingy in the middle of the deck. It will bake in the summer and mossy in the winter. I just think it is more trouble than it is worth. For home electrical cords, where you use it, then put it away, it should work great.

That was me

Thanks, JC. I carry an extra set of shore power cords on board for when we travel to other marinas, so typically they would only be used for a night or two. Therefore, it might work. I'm trying to alleviate some of the mess in my storage lockers, so the Cordpro might help. Harry Harry Greenspun Bethesda, MD Hunter 456 - "Czech Mate" harry@greenspun.com

I like mine a lot....

... I have used it for about 3 years, and would not be without one. JC is correct about unraveling from both sides. But, that is the beauty of it. You only unravel what you need, and no more. If I only need about 5 feet (as I do when I back into my slip, only 5 feet comes out. If I need 40 feet, then only 40 feet comes out, and the yellow "tire" hangs nice and neat on my stanchion or lifeline. They are no trouble, neat, and easy. And, storing a shorepower cord is a breeze. Try it.. Jeff

Mine Works well

for home use with long extension cords. Doesn't look like it would be very durable if left in the elements.
