Just purchased a Catalina 30. Boat does not have an exhaust fan for the cabin. Looking for an exhaust fan that is solar powered. This is the kicker I want one that can be removed and the cover plate install when sailing. Have sailed multiple boats with these but I cannot find one.

Consider installing a 5 inch diameter deck plate and install a 4-3/4" diameter vent into it when at the dock with some foam tape around the outside to take up the 1/4" gap.

I made my own with a computer fan and a 5 watt panel. It is hidden inside the panel where the Dorade vents come to the interior. The wire is fished through the vent to the panel which stays in place even when sailing. The Dorade provides a labyrinth path so water can't get to the fan and it comes on and off during the day.
I think Nicro makes a deck plate that fits a their fan. I just cannot seem to find one. My eperience with fans , vents and solar panels that are permenant on decks get broken and are a safety hazard.
