One thing that hasn't been given much print is ventilation while working. When I was doing glass work inside I would put a box fan over the fore hatch to pull air out of the cabin and fresh air in through the companion. In confined spaces I had a dual wheel blower from a kitchen exhaust hood. I would duct fresh air in and draw polluted air out. It may not be perfect but I am still here and in good health.

Yes, Fiberglass is a persistent irritant! I was pleased to try an oscillating saw on these inner skin cuts. (Fein Multitool) They throw very little volume and you can hold the shop vac nozzle right next to the blade. Cutting is a little slow, but safe and clean.
I already have full face respirators with lens shields, thanks.
For a Good fitting dust mask, try to find 3M #9211 units. They are a slick tri-fold design that I find more effective than any other disposables I've used yet. They have an exhaust valve as well. Rated N95.

OP, it looks like your chain plate comes through the work you are doing. One thing that I always do on any repair that has a penetration is to leave a large space around the hole that goes through the deck. The after I fell that area with epoxy and glass. Then I cut my slot back in or drill a hole depending on the app. Now when you re-bed the whatever it will be safe even if some water does get in.
