Thanks Joe i dont think there is any site i havent been to for the fox and slipper which are more or less the same boat.....i really appreciate the input and help...my problems lie in getting it back as close to orginal as possible except the fixed window which i am making open and screen ones.....i am not trying to put it like new but the previous owners did some well lets just say bad modifacations.....i dont know anything about a sailboat but i know i loved the feeling when i sailed just that one time...i was a licensed captain in the oilfield for over 40 years and know almost every part of a boat BUT i have found out that sailboats are a breed of their own with names i am not familiar with nor do i understand as of yet and the bad part is that some of the people i have talked to forgot that at one time they were just like me and had no idea a rope from a rode or whatere else they call a rope....that is why the pictures and advice is so important to me.. i.e. dont want to put the backstay where the forestay goes lol......thanks again fro helping.....take care and have a great memoral day....LeRoy

Local marina the best place

Without specific questions to your overall problem I don’t believe you’re going to get much help here.

After looking up your profile and MapQuesting your location, I see a marina across the river from Madisonville with a number of sailboats. What I suggest to you is go over there and inspect all of the boats in the 25 to 35 foot range and study the rigging, most of the boats smaller than 22 to 25 feet will not have some of the sail controls your small boat has. Larger than 35 feet will have many more ropes and rigging and may become confusing.

Asking questions at the local marina is the best starting point. You’re going to be surprised at the passion sailboater's have for this sport that you never experienced in your years as a powerboat captain. Seek out a couple fellows working on their boats by themselves, most of them may look busy but, from experience I will tell you many of them would rather talk about their boat or sailing than work on them, especially the older fellows. You’ll also, find that most of these most experienced larger boat sailor’s will never turn down an offer to go sailing on a small boat.

Re: any idea

Hi LeRoy,
Sorry for the lag time. This is our busiest time of year. It's possible I may get a chance to look tomorrow at my Slipper and send you back some answers. I will try, but if I can't it'll be another week or so before I can get to it.
