Hello,The reason I sold my Catalina 22 and bought a Newport 28 was to get bunks for everyone in the family (me, my wife and our 3 kids) so we could spend nights aboard. The Newport met that requirement. My wife and I slept in the V Berth, my oldest daughter (11 at the time) slept on the port settee, 8 year old daughter on the starboard sette, and 5 year old son in the quarter berth. Of course, when in 'sleep' mode there was no room for gear, so that ended up in the cockpit. Still, we did a few overnight trips a year with that boat and had a great time. One time I did sleep on the cockpit to get a little more room. The Newport was great for 1 night, but not so good for longer than that. So that's why I sold the Newport and bought an O'day 35. Same number of berths, but lots more space. Last year we stayed aboard for a week and it was great. With adults it's a different story, but for a family with kids, the number of berths is more important than the quoted number of 'sleepers'.
