We arrived early one day at Pete's while they were making the blasters. Got the first one's of the day and they were almost pure rum. I don't think they stirred them up! Talk about getting blasted - WOW. I'm sure this place was Jimmy Buffet's inspiration for the 12 volt man of song. At night they would take jumper cables to 12 volt batteries to light up the bar.One SOUR
Two SWEET
Three STRONG
Four WEAK
A take away from the Blasters you get at Pete's Pub, Little Harbour, Abaco's
One cup of lime juice, two cups of simple syrup, three cups of Cruzan Aged Rum and four cups of fruit juice. Normally two cups of pineapple juice and two of orange juice. Finish it off with a large dash of bitters and a slice or orange floating on the top. The admiral keeps telling me it's too strong, but our guests never complain and keep coming back for more.
Jim, I'm with you regarding the Summer Shandy. I keep the full compliment of Leinie's in my fridge at home. I particularly like Hoppin Helles now, and always Red Lager as well. In fact, I no longer buy any beer other than the various brews from the Leinie Lodge! I think I like it so much because Leinenkugel brings back the memories of summer vacations in the north woods of Wisconsin, with the adults drinking Leinies at the bar while us kids plugged the jukebox with dimes and played a shuffle board type game on a long table with sliding pucks (can't remember the name). In a pinch dark rum and coke with a squeeze of fresh lime always works, so does a Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy.
After reading your latest blog entry, and remembering my own experience, I propose this drink, as a rite of passage, for all of us who have had the engine sputter and die the first time.Signature drink is the Dark n Stormy. Goslings rum and ginger beer with a squeeze of lime.
End of the evening and end of a trip is single malt scotch. Lagavulin or Glenlivet 18
Love it! Very cleverDiscovered the Dark n Stormy about a year ago and loved it. Sometimes if I'm not in the mood for all the sweetness, I cut the ginger beer with equal part tonic. I call it a Partly Cloudy.
