The manuals for single spreader rigs that came with all Catalina yachts are among the best I have seen. Without any equipment other than what's needed to adjust the turnbuckles you should be able to properly set up your rig. I have been doing so since 1983.

If you are asking about a specific tension number that is based on the diameter and type of the wire. Also it would seem you have a loose gauge. The manual for the gauge will tell you what to set the tension at.

But as Stu said, Catalina has a good qualitative procedure for mast tuning and you don't need a gauge.
