Shower drain comes out how?

On my 1983 C30 I would like to take the drain cover out of the head and clean it, it is green and has some crap under it. How does it come out? I do not want to mangle it trying to get it out. Does it twist out with a screw driver?ThanksCW

Shower drain

My 83 shower drain is just a rubber hose going from the corner of the shower stall through the wood glassed block under the compression post. It drains to the bildge. I don't see how to get under the shower stall to work on it. If someone else does I would love to know.

I need to clarify this. I only want

to take the drain cover off and clean it and what is under the cover, the drain is not clogged and is not smelling or anything so I have no need to clean it. I want to know how to get the drain cover off.

Chip, I had to replace my compression post and since I was in there I would go ahead and do the shower drain hose and clean the drain cover. The drain on my 1982 C-30 popped off with some careful prying from inside the head. Shouldn't take much effort. Once the drain was cleaned I pushed it back in place. The difference between an 82 model and an 83 should be minimum I would imagine. Hope this helps. P.S. While your there check the compression post for rot.
