Short Jib Car track

On the C320 there is a shorter jib sheet car track on the cabin top. With the 130% Genoa, I've never used anything but the main track on the deck. About all I've ever used the short track for is to slide an extra cleat on for certain docking situations. Any suggestions about when (what circumstances, equipment, etc.) to use the smaller track? The advantages/disadvantages? Methods of shifting the cars from one to the other? Given everything I've seen about the boat thus far I don't believe that it would enable you to point much higher. --Ron

Inboard lead

Ron Those tracks are for an inboard lead. They are very useful when you furl the jib down to about 100% (just forward of the upper shrouds). At that point the forward portion of the regular track is too far outboard to be able to point very well. I don't bother with the inboard lead when I am just daysailing, but if I am racing or trying to get to a windward destination the difference is well worth the effort. When I furl the jib down that far, I clip on a second set of lighter weight sheets, run them through blocks on the inboard tracks and then through the regular jib leads to the winch. I moved the original jib cars to the inboard tracks when I installed the Garhauer adjustable cars on the outboard tracks. I hope that helps. Jeff
