That's the plan ... ;)

You guys are the best! Thanks to everyone!! Cheers!!

Well, now I have to actually go GET her ... she's still on the hard up in MA, waiting for her trailer to be built. Then we'll tow her home to FL and give her a refit. There aren't many weaknesses in the design, but I'll just preemptively reinforce the cabin top and the chainplates, which are the two things people always mention. We're also going to pull the old Volvo MD7A out of her and install this purty lil' Beta 14, which is already waiting in the shed. The Volvo still runs (sort of) but I got such a smokin deal on the Beta there was nothing to think about.

Man, you sure do things right.

Repower.. prudent ! some of the originals came with a Saab diesel; they had no gears much, just a clutch. The propeller was a controlled variable pitch prop so it could be set for whatever pitch you wanted.. and to go into reverse, the prop pitch could be reversed.. some large ships do that but ya don't see that on sailboats much.. yes, it could be feathered for sailing. They were well thought out boats.

An old friend told me the other day I should name my H31 "Holly". It took me a couple of hours to figure it out. If not for that, I'd still be working on "Vincent".

Hey, I recognise that engine! :) (although mine's a 25). I replaced my Volvo MD6A after it quit on me (turned out the rocker arm had broken), so I'd say Good Call.

And that's a sweet boat. Similar to the Contessa or Folkboat, they're not the fastest on the water, but they'll get you through just about anything. Sturdy little craft, and a joy to sail in in tough conditions.

Ahhhhhh Gene.... Well, my advice... Hang on to the C-22 while the Albin Vega is in 'dry dock' for the next two years so you don't go stir crazy like me. I have grad school to keep me busy, but then again if it were not for that I'd have been done months ago, lol!
Wherever you decide to make your workspace, in doors or out, invest in a nice fire-place and lounge chairs so your family can hang out with you and relax, that way they can't claim you spend all your free time on your project boat!

Gene, all I've got to say is "you can't hide money"! Sweet for sure! How are the sails? Let me guess, you're getting new ones! WOW! The Admiral's smile says it all. You kids have fun.

"Can't hide money"?? Hah! Don't be silly! I hid every cent I had, right here in this BOAT! LOL

But the sails are fine, thank goodness. She came with a main and 150 furling jib, both in excellent condition, and the engine was part of a big package deal that included two more mains (one of them brand new in the wrapper) and six more headsails in various conditions.

Sounds like a great deal. I won't be surprised if Daydream goes up for sail once your wife spends time on the Vega.
The only advantage the c22 has over that Vega is trailerability.

The Vega is a good boat. You will enjoy her and you will enjoy the extra space.

Wow Gene. Congrats. Nice engine. More space in compartment, means easier maintenance. Yeah.
Hope you have power to spare and a silent smooth cruise.

At least in this forum we would not detect your voice change.

I noted it was last sailed in a very safe boating Area MS, by the registration number
