Mine has two clips on the sides of the top closest to the controls. a flat spring strap that locks the top down. Push the spring strap clips away from the stove and the top can be lifted.. The edges will be very sharp, so be careful to not cut yourself..EDIT: Picture.. yellow arrow points to clip.. another one on right side.. Top folds up and back and has slots for hinge pins so you can take it off easily after it is hinged up..
