Recommend Good Surveyor

Don't know if you're buying or selling but if you're buying and want someone who "will work for you" I'd recommend going with a surveyor. Brokers, in my opinion, tend to be influenced by their portion of the commission and as much as they would like to help you they also need to live and therefore may err on the side of closing the deal. "Trying to make it work" as they say. A surveyor, on the other hand, has basically no financial interest in the outcome of the sale other than they get a survey job. The downside is since their time is money they can't afford to spend lots of time talking for nothing. Surveyor recommendation for starters would be Alison Mazon in Portland. Why Portland? Well, she could recommend someone up here for you. Go to http://www.marineweb.com/htdocs/listsurveyors.htm and do a search using "Find" and enter "Alison". It'll take you to about 1/3 to 3/4ths down the web page to "A Mazon & Associates Marine Surveyors". If you still want to go with a boat dealer sales person because you're in the "looking" stage then that's probably a good way to go but have your surveyor lined up for when the deal starts to materialize and start working with them before you sign on the dotted line. You know what they say about the two best days in a boat owners life don't you? Hope this helps and Good Luck in your search, purchase, or sale.

"Haste Makes Waste"

You're right Fred - it's the old Haste Makes Waste thing that grandmother used to say. Trying to get stuff (sails, life vest, and other gear) on the boat and take it down to Brownsville for new zincs. Geting stuff loaded into the car and the blue sky above changes, ... it starts to pour buckets! Go inside and check the weather radar, look at HOW, make a quick comment, go outside, the rain stopped, load some more, it starts raining again,.... ... but it looks better for this afternoon. At least that's what the forecast was! Gotta leave now and take the tarp off the boat and start commissioning it a bit to make the run to Brownsville. Hope it starts! By the way, the dehumidifier worked GREAT this year - 35%RH at 68F. Can't beat that. Not a sign of mildew anywhere. One of the best investments we've made for the boat. As for Ann - maybe go down to Shilshole and look at the bulletin boards, there's usually names of people posting for work. Obviously the better the references the higher the price so unknown quantities need would need to be watched.
