If you are sure the 9 pin is serial you need to find which pins are the input, output and ground (common) or at least the output and ground and wire up a cable with the appropriate end for the computer (might not need the input with the autopilot, but you also need to get GPS position into the computer. You could use a USB GPS device on one of SeaClears other 'receive' only inputs).
Most laptops haven't had serial for a long time now.
In SeaClear you need to go to "Tools" then "Properties" then "Comm" to setup the serial ports and their rates. You will first need to find which com port the computer is using for it's serial port.
You will also need to use the "Tx/Rx 1" since that is the only one that will transmit. The other two are 'recieive NEMA' only.
I love SeaClear, but might switch to OpenCPN as not much new has happened with SeaClear and people are adding more and more to OpenCPN all of the time. The main feature that I now like is that you can click tide stations and current stations right on the chart you are viewing and get current and future tide and current info. Up till now I had to go to the handheld garmin for tide info and had no current info. There is also other new features with OpenCPN that I didn't see a couple years ago when I first looked at it.
I still like SeaClear in other ways and will probably run both into the immediate future. Good luck and I have not run an autopilot with SeaClear to this point, so take what I posted above wth that in consideration. We do have an ST4000 on the Endeavour and I do plan on using it with either SeaClear or OpenCPN in the future,
