The radio was interesting this weekend and the USCG did not do a whole hell of a lot other than blah, blah, blah this is USCG station 012223333444555777888333dot6666dot71 etc. etc..
A boat was reported on fire off Cundy's Harbor by two boats. The USCG finally responded over 35 minutes later with an "this is USCG station 012223333444555777888333dot6666dot71 any boats in the vicinity of Cundy's Harbor be on the lookout for a boat on fire"..
The first boat to report the fire to the coast guard was not even responded to....
Had four distress signals come blasting thought the VHF and damn those things are LOUD woke up our napping daughter who was in the v-berth with the fan on.
As Tim said another boat rain up on Ram Island. This makes two boats in two weeks...? Oh and the visibility was about 6-10 miles so fog was not a factor.. I still have no clue how you run aground on Ram Island? There are plenty of ledges that I can fully understand how it can happen but Ram is not one of them. Running aground on Ram is like running aground on the Statue of Liberty...
As for the Wendameen they are really going to have a tough time living this one down..
