Sarasota Bay Returning

Perfect days. Great wind. Lots of fish. Now it's time to go home.
Some new shallow spots after the hurricane.
Fog came in this morning as I was heading for the launch ramp. When I got to the channel my outboard died. I was facing a 14 mph wind at low tide. I freaked out for 2 minutes as I tried to restart the engine. Then it started and took me to the ramp. No idea why it died.

This year I am going to gelcoat the blank parts, damaged portions of the deck and then ruff coat the rug parts of the deck.
The real problem is how to board the boat from a canoe. I tie the support stays on the canoe to the winch on the boat. Then half the canoe is steady and I can climb on. The canoe can only flip one direction. Others are older and I use a ladder for them to climb. Waves and wind make it harder for some people.
I have been searching for a workable response. Sarasota doesn't appear to have rentable or temporary docks.
I have a great anchor location. It is protected on three sides. But getting older is starting to be a problem.

I believe the canoe would be more arduous than a kayak. We let our buoy go to another as kayaking out and in was not fun.
"Porpoise" the canoe is great for carrying everything. It is easy to fish from and I can cover miles to cruise an area .

Decision made. No more canoe to sailboat boarding trips. I will find a dock for the sailboat. If no dock is found I will board the sailboat from the canoe and take it to a dock for sailers. I am young enough for anchoring out and boarding with the canoe.
Back on the ocean. Repainted all the rough parts with Totaltread. The gelcoat is so soft now and the dirt and mold stick to it. The new gelcoat doesn't have dirt and mold. I may need to gelcoat above the hull.
Going back to Sarasota for the end of December.

l changed the impeller, cleaned spark plugs and changed the fuel filter. It ran great for 15 minutes. I went out on Sarasota Bay and the engine died. It would start but then die. I got out the electric motor and played for two weeks.
When I got home I found that the exhaust was leaking into the cowl. I could not find the part and used exhaust sealant to stop the leak. 1981 BF75 Honda. I could not find a new gasket, only used ones. I am hoping this works.
