sanitary holding tank

My '80 Catalina 30 is not equipped with the required sanitary holding tank and I am looking to make this installation myself. Likely location is port side - under the bench seat adjoining the head. The size of the existing access opening limits the size of the tank. space under the V-berth is currently occupied by a water storage tank..........Can ( or should ) this tank be converted to a holding tank. It is certainly larger than anything I could possibly fit on the port side. Can anyone advise whether I am on the right track and if this is something I can see through by myself - or is it best assigned to the boatyard??Any advice would be appreciated.Hans

I replaced my 20 year old tank and ordered a new one directly from Catalina Yachts parts dept. (I got new water tanks, too). The price is reasonable and it fits perfectly under the port setee. The guys in the parts dept. can steer you in the right direction as to installation and things you'll need. They're a big help (with any problem you might have)!!
