Catalina 30 Fairhope, Al. sold 06-13-09
So Katrina sank my Catalina 30. As soon as I could get to it (4 days later) I decided to see if I could raise and salvage my boat. I DID manage to refloat her and with surprisingly little hull damage. I know that all the wiring , tankage , and engine will have to be reworked. Any fiberglass damage will have to be repaired and lots of cleaning ,there is mud in everything. My insurance company declared her a full loss and made me responsible for the salvage. I have the check in hand. My question is if I decide to keep this boat is 1. Can I get it insured. 2. What other problems can I look forward to since she was underwater for 6 days ? I am including a link to the Fairhope Yacht Club site. There are a lot of good photos in the gallery section plus another link to Katrina Photos that are amazeing.

Hard to get my head around all the devastation

I looked at the photos of Katrina's affect on the club house and surrounding areas. I find it hard to comprehend how bad and wide the devastation really is in the areas affected. I know in all the TV interviews and newspaper accounts, the people quoted say you can't come away with a feeling of the devastation unless you have seen it in person, a TV screen can't do it justice. I hope your club is able to recover from the destruction.

wow

Amazine pictures. Good luck in getting your Cat 30 up and running. Maybe if the wiring is washed of fall the salt water it might be salvagabel. The engine probabably be overhauled at least worh a look.
