Correct me if I'm wrong but the reason sealants fail is due to lack of elasticity and due to that, the adhesion fails. So in theory, a stronger adhesive might fair better if more elasticity is not an option?
Structural silicones, in particular the glazing formulations, are both an adhesive and a sealant. They are also specifically formulated to accommodate a large shear force. For example, Dow 795 can accommodate 50% shear movement of a joint.

A pure adhesive would likely shear apart internally, and if it didn't, it would cause the window to buckle/bulge and crack.

Almost all reasons for glazing failures are:
1. incorrect choice of glazing compound
2. too thin of a bond thickness
3. a 3-sided (L-shaped) bond instead of two separate 2-sided bonds. This is the one most amateurs fail to understand even when they get the other two correct.

I finally installed the three hatch covers a couple of years ago.

Didn't use buttons and that was a challenge. The big plus was the drop in interior temp in the summer when the boat wasn't being used.

I’m from Toronto
We are looking to re-name Lake Ontario to “Sea of Canada”
Not sure if that made the news yet……
Sorry, that won't work. Seas are salt water, lakes are fresh. Besides the lake is named after a Canadian Province. Nice try.

Unfortunately the lens needs to be replaced. Critical aspect is removing old lens in one piece. Order the replacement lens locally or order online (Tapp Plastics). Rough cut to approximate size and use old lens as a template and router with flush cut bit to machine accurate fit. I used 3M heavy duty double sided tape to adhere new lens to deck & back filled perimeter with Dow 795 UV sealer. Not very expensive if you DIY; however, lots of labor hours Involved.
