Hi all, couple of months ago I was following a sort of blog of a young german girl, last I read she was up against some welding of lots of holes in the alum hull, I was trying to remember the site to see how she made out. Anybody see this??...Red

hello all

I have been following all sailor girls exploits since she started... I am very impressed about her tanasity, ingenuity, and courage in her endeavors... I have one question, she never tells us the make of her boat... I am interested in what size and make her boat is... does anyone know ?

sincerely
Jess

Hmmm... had this been a young German boy would there be much interest? Just curious.

She gives the dimensions in one of the early segments, but I didn't her say what manufacture.

Very interesting to watch the transformation of the boat.

I never thought on going around the marina and rounding up people to help. Maybe I'll try that. :snooty:

Interesting point Brian, I'll go around the marina Sunday, see how many commers I get...We could probably get help for a quick give me a hand kind of thing....however for sanding, waxing painting not so much, when u look like her, it would be like the pied piper rounding up. She does speak our language"boat", and seems to be mature for her age, very well spoken, I myself find it refreshing to see someone this young and driven going about her dream....I think she will do just fine.... She bought that boat site unseen. I think she said on the advice of a friend, or a friend looked it over..I just wonder if they are still friends?

Couldn't care less about the gender Brian. After seeing so many dreams of restoring boats go poof, I love seeing anyone succeed. I do see some old school german nationalism (boat is german and the products she uses are german exclusively) that is unappealing but the restoration supercedes that. Indeed if she completes the project and traverses the Great Lakes I would buy her a beer when she comes through.

Hey, you're right--she's a female. I was captivated by an old sailboat being rescued.

my thinking on the german products is that she has some one helping her from home with supplies.....

I'm sure she's got some sponsors, and had some parts ordered from home and sent as well. I've enjoyed watching from start to current, and yes, even without a survey, I admire her persistence and willingness to tackle as much as she has so far. She hasn't just sat back and had others do all the work, she's always been right in the thick of it as much as she's able to. Obviously things she can't handle, she finds someone capable, but it's nice to watch. I even found her donate link in her youtube series and had no qualms about helping out when I could. Probably because she's never out and out said "Please send money to help me". She's doing it without begging for help, which is a big plus in my book for anyone tackling a project.

Old School German Nationalism.... are you kidding me? What the heck does that mean? And why does it matter? That sounds a little xenophobic. I noticed in her videos that she's drinking the local beer, not german beer....

If you follow the posts she has on facebook (I only do a little) it was a facebook subscriber that told her if she put in a paypal link that people could help her offset the cost of the repairs.
