Sailboat rudder pulling to port

But absolutely necessary for a boat rudder, and an airplane rudder, for that matter.

No, not flaps, but trim tabs. Very different control surfaces.
So do you think the build up on the trailing edge would work and if so which side ? To me it would seem to be the port trailing edge ? See diagram above

This question is premature. Once the boat is hauled and you check the foil and fairing, then you will know how to proceed. It is entirely possible that the foil is close enough and the problem lies elsewhere.

Once the rudder is templated, the course of action will be clear, until then it is all bar room chatter.

One unlikely but not inconceivable cause for this problem is a bent prop shaft or bent strut. This could have occurred when the boat was last hauled. It would not take a very big bend to make a difference.

Again, unlikely, but worth checking when the boat is hauled again.
