Well, I DID have a smiley on it....J,
Was that necessary man? You are something else........
Unless it was a mark on the course. Then only one turn (tack+jibe). But how to you count tacks and jibes with the rig down???But the million dollar question is...
Did he do his two turn penalty?
ba dum tsssss.
The guy for the other forum should have been a bit more careful drawing that oval. It crosses over the security booms in the water off NAS North Island. Get anywhere close to those things and you gather some very interesting company very quickly.gratuitously stolen from another forum![]()
No worries! Indeed, like you say the real question is WHY? Did the skipper get distracted? Think the rig was below the level of the flight deck? Go below for a pee at the wrong time? Who knows? Maybe it will come out in the news.JD,
Didn't notice the smiley pal but, it's better to miss this than an aircraft carrier HUH?
C'mon, 8 people onboard & as the captain, he is in charge of safety for everyone....period!
AND, he failed!
Was it alcohol, or something else? OR, maybe it was just that his mast was simply
TOO HIGH & the fault was that the Navy did not make their deck high enough to
avoid sailboat masts.
Or, he negligently & simply didn't follow the Prudent Navigator rule, To keep a lookout at all times.
JD, thanks for the smiley. I was looking for a yellow happy-faced emolgi.
I had these guys pull up next to me once. They saw my Marine Corps colors, smiled and moved up to the next victim. er... boat. Guess they were seeing how we would react to a boat with a bow mounted .50 cal. The .50 was manned but the gun was not loaded with a belt, and the bolt was forward in the safe position. The guy for the other forum should have been a bit more careful drawing that oval. The layman would not notice these clues. The .50 was manned but the gun was not loaded with a belt, and the bolt was forward in the safe position.
Great story! Was it a duce? I thought the bolt was always forward unless you were racking or after firing in single shot mode.I had these guys pull up next to me once. They probably will pay. But you have to be careful. Most policies will have a disclaimer for the following; 'Deliberate acts of negligence or recklessness'The insurance company will pay his claim and cancel him. This is why you need agreed value insurance on your boat - there are lots of guys like him with the potential to take your boat and leave you short.
