Sail wrinkles

With the new sails that have synthetic components I have found parking lots to be of great help (huh?). You find a fairly clean one, lay out the sail on a warm sunny day and sit in a lawn chair and exchange chat or drink or whatever for a couple of hours. Soon the wrinkles will dissapear and you can go put it on the boat. Low tech and enjoyable.

For what it's worth...
I went with Pineapple Sails for my new sails on my Catalina 25. We worked out a sail plan I am comfortable with (More like stoked!) for the conditions on our little Clinton Lake in Illinois. That is an important step for me at this point in my sailing career. It was great to have a discussion about sailing instead of sails.

Buying sails is a difficult process if you're a "research first" kind of buyer like me. I learned a lot from this forum and others and I appreciate all the input. As you read often, it comes down to personal choice and values. All five sailmakers I engaged were professional and capable.

I'm convinced I got the best! The rest is all sail trim and helmsmanship. (The hard part, eh?)

Insightful Craig. Thanks for sharing your discovery. Take pictures of that first sail next spring. Suspect it will be a thriller.
