Yup. No Feb issue here either.

I broke down and bought it when I found one but it just ain't right. They will actually benefit from me for their screw up. I did also pick up Sailing magazine. I like it. I've never seen it before. Any history from all of you on that publication? I wonder how the large format would fare in the mail?

Sailing Magazine

I also subscribe to SAILING and like it better than SAIL. It arrives each month without fail in excellent condition.

I contacted Sail and they exteded my subscription by 2 months. Then I copied them on this entire thread. No new response, except that they suggested I contact my post office! I guess trying to reason with them will do no good. But I got my March issue yesturday.

SAIL Magazine Subscription Problem

Those of us who subscribe to the Trailer Sailor Group on Yahoo got an e-mail from SAIL writer Rebecca Waters regarding the Feb 2007 issue. Here it is: "To those of you who subscribe to SAIL and have not yet received a copy of the magazine, I appologize profusely. You should receive all future issues without any problems. That said, I was appalled that subscribers were being sent to the newsstand to get their copies of SAIL and would like to do everything possible to make sure you all get a copy of my article. Please email your name and address to our editorial department sailmail@sailmagazine.com or email me directly at rwaters@sailmagazine.com and we will send you a copy of the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience, Rebecca Waters Copy Editor SAIL "

I wonder if one will make it to my mailbox, back in the good ol days it would be there on the 20th or 21st.

Got my Feb issue, so did all friends,on newstands

We were surprised when we heard the Sail Magazine controversy. I asked around the yacht club (South Shore in Milwaukee) and everone who takes Sail, received their February issue. I checked a couple of newstands and found February issues at Barnes & Noble and Schwartz (local) books. If someone desparately needs a copy, they are welcome to ours. The March issue is out now. It was interesting to hear about the Trailor Sailing Association. We have belonged to MidAmerica Sail & Trail (MAST) (http://www.mastracing.org/) since 1985. We trailered down to Kentucky Lake from Milwaukee but mostly sailed Lake Michigan in a Clipper Marine 26. We sold it in 2000 to a wheat farmer from Kansas who towed it through Mexico to Belize. He spends 3 months down there every winter. We really miss Great Lakes Cruiser magazine for North Channel articles. They explored every nook and cranny of Lake Huron.

Sail Magazine

Got an E-Mail from SAIL's printer: "Dear George, We apologize that you missed your February 2007 issue and for any inconvenience it may have caused. This issue is permanently out of stock; therefore, we have extended your subscription. Your subscription will now expire with the August 2009 issue. Sincerely, Shawn White Customer Service " I guess we've flogged this horse enough....

Received February Issue Today

Hmmm. I received my February issue today (March 5th). Attached was the following letter from "Josh Adams, Publisher" dated February 28th: Dear SAIL Subscriber: Like a long-distance cruiser slowed by light airs, at last the February issue of SAIL reaches its destination - your mailbox. Your copy was mistakenly held up at the printer. This is unacceptable, and I apologize for the incovenience. The SAIL crew and I hope that you'll enjoy reading this issue, which we think is a fine example of what the SAIL editorial staff does best - celebrate the sailing experience and help you become a better sailor. As a valued reader of SAIL, you deserve better service than what you received in February. Please accept my apologies and know that going forward, we'll do better! Unflogging Sail Magazine

Got a nice letter of apology from Josh Adams, the publisher of SAIL, along with a copy of the Feb issue and a SAIL hat. I'm satisfied this is the best resolution possible to the screw-up.

wow, nice gesture...

I got the "due to your inconvenience, your subscription has been extended one month" . I am ok with that, I know that they could do better. A personal letter from the publisher, that's a nice touch. I will keep holding my breath for mine. By the way, I still didn't get the February issue... Best regards, Ross in Tampa 1979 Oday 25 "Lola"

CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!!!!!!!!!!

Many of us wait by the mailbox for our issues...seconds turns to minutes, minutes to hours, hours to days...its like an enternity. I was popping xanax and prozac after a few days of not getting my issue. Maybe, we can have a class action lawsuit for all the torment and stress this has caused. Forget second hand smoke lawsuits..this is more important. Where is Larry Parker when you need him? abe

Got my Feb issue today

with the same letter of apology... no hat! I think they've been beaten up about this and best PR would be to make sure it doesn't happen again. Any good businessman knows what would happen. One screw up....it happens.. but if it happens twice... they can forget my business. (PS... still never got my January issue... oh well).

Breach of contract !

Is a good place to start for a class action case.

NIce, NOT!

Well, I got the form letter and a copy of the Feb Sail, but I'm not impressed-when I called, I was told that they all had been mailed, no one else had complained, the post office must have lost it and that if I wanted a Feb issue I should scour the newsstands because they were all out. Well, scour I did, and I'd like to know if "Josh" plans to refund my $5 bucks and pay for my time. Also, how does he intend to retrain his customer service staff?

So What Eactly Is The Truth

1. Not having received a February issue I telephoned Sail Magazine 2. They told me that the shipment was somehow lost & that they had no more issues to send out - they would extend my subscription by one month. 3. Noticed on this chat room - that some got their subscriptions extended 2 months 4. Contacted Sail Magazine via their web site - stated that I was rather put-off receiving only a one month extension when others got two months. Suggested that since there were so many who seemingly did not receive the February issue, perhaps they should publish it as a pdf file on the net. Also suggested that this might have been an act of suicide on the part of the publishers. 5. Received e-mail from Sail Magazine asking me to send them my address so that they could send me a February issue. (Person I spoke to in #2 assured me that there were NO more February issues available.) 6. I e-mailed my address to them and noted that "word is that they are all gone". 7. Received another e-mail from them stating: "Thanks for your quick reply. "Word" is wrong -- we have copies here, which we will send you. This is the trouble with chat rooms -- incorrect info gets spread around all too quickly. Thanks for your note, and please stand-by for your mags." 8. I replied: "Not to belabor the point - only to defend my chat room. It was your office that told me that there were no more February copies available when I 'phoned last week. I'll be awaiting the February issue." 9. E-mails transpired on Friday 3/2 ..... today, 3/5, I received: a) A white envelope containing bothe the February and March issue. (I already had received the March issue) b) A plastic envelope containing the another February issue along with the letter of appology from Josh Adams, the Publisher. Now, I do not know what the real story is here. I do know that I wouldn't take anything Sail Magazine said as gospel in the future. And as just a suggestion to Josh Adams, from a former public relations specialist: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER LIE TO OR TRY TO FOOL YOUR CUSTOMERS. They often do not forgive it where they might forgive a production snafu.

Chat Rooms

Steve: The internet is a double-edged sword. The problem with chat rooms is that the CORRECT information get spread too quickly.... Without this forum I'd still be waiting for my Feb issue of SAIL and I doubt the publisher would have been advised of the problem. Now if we can just get him to go over to Walter Reed and straighten that mess out we'd all be better off.

I Got A Hat

and a letter from Josh Adams, and the February issue. This is quite a prize, and yes Ross from Perryville I would say even with consolation prizes this is breech of contract, you are absolutely right. My letter states that their "circulation department is still trying to figure out just how-the February issue was not mailed to you". The rest of the letter tells me what is in the magazine, and how they are making me a better sailor, it of course at the very end includes an apology, and that we'll do better going forward. I have read Sail since its inception, and due to to all the Sail antics I am reading on this post, the hat is not enough to sway me to stay. Every subscriber should be treated fairly, it seems here however loud you complain is how well you are treated. It is not fair to all!! So it seems we are still getting the run around in stories (is that politically correct?) I guess in the long run I get more enjoyment, and most of the time knowledge from this owners site than I do Sail. Here I will stay, and the price is the same for everyone all the time. Maybe we need a special I.D. to get magazines consistently, oh I'm sorry wrong post. My best to all of you, John

Feb SAIL came yesterday

with an apology. I did not complain directly to SAIL when February was missed, but I did post that fact here. Thanks to Steph for sending them this thread. Steve is right - they should have just admitted they screwed up and made it right. Still waiting for my hat.
