Just a Caution
I used Sail Care a couple of years ago for the sails on my Legend 37 and was very impressed. The sails came back clean and like new again. They evaluated the sails and made any necessary repairs (for a fee) that I had authorized them to do.But, what I didn't realize that if the material was previously weak from age, the process does not strengthen the material, if it is weak. That first season back, I was with a friend and, like guys do, pushed the boat pretty hard. I blew out the main (a 10' tear along the first reef point) and had to have it repaired. It was also stretched out from use before Sail Care even got it. They never informed me of that, either. So be careful of the condition of the sail before you send it to them. Otherwise, go for it!Hint: Get the sails to them early in the off-season because their lead time grows as the winter progresses. I had a 6 week lead time and it took 7-8 weeks to complete them.
