Does any one have experiance with a company called "Sail Care" located in PA? I saw them at the Annapolis boat show and it looked very interesting. Thanks I have included a link to their web site.

Check the archives Tom.

Over the years there have been several testimonials here on HOW. I think you will find very few negative comments. Do a search in "Forum Archives".

I used them two years ago on my 1990 H30G, and I was very impressed with what they did.

Just a Caution

I used Sail Care a couple of years ago for the sails on my Legend 37 and was very impressed. The sails came back clean and like new again. They evaluated the sails and made any necessary repairs (for a fee) that I had authorized them to do. But, what I didn't realize that if the material was previously weak from age, the process does not strengthen the material, if it is weak. That first season back, I was with a friend and, like guys do, pushed the boat pretty hard. I blew out the main (a 10' tear along the first reef point) and had to have it repaired. It was also stretched out from use before Sail Care even got it. They never informed me of that, either. So be careful of the condition of the sail before you send it to them. Otherwise, go for it! Hint: Get the sails to them early in the off-season because their lead time grows as the winter progresses. I had a 6 week lead time and it took 7-8 weeks to complete them.

If you wish to see their work first hand---

Tom If you wish to see the results of their work first hand, stop down to Tolchester, MD.on a weekend and look at my '79 Hunter 30. I had my main and jib done 4 years ago and their work is still holding together. One thing- this was not inexpensive. Ian

Tom, when I bought my previous boat, the sails were still in the box from Sail Care. When I finally got the boat splashed and opened the box it was like Christmas--new sails! That was 3 sailing seasons ago and they still retain a good shape and resin. There were new cringles, new leathers and stitching. Several small batches were well done. You can go on line with them and fill out a quote form to get a ballpark price. The refurbishment cost the PO about 1/6th of the cost of a new set of inexpensive sails. S/V Intrepid '83 H34 #113
