Hi, Bought a new roller furling sail last year and when I took her down to store, I noticed a little mildew at the head. Is there any way to keep the mildew from growing? How should I store the sail during the winter? Are there any other things I should do routinely to care for my sails? Thanks

Sail Storage

Mike, Remove all sails during the winter. Make sure their dry, fold it or roll it if your a purest and have the space. Bag it, and store it a cool DRY place. Warm water, mild detergent and a scrub brush should get rid of the mildew. To avoid mildew, make sure the sail is dry before you roll it up....Keeping your sails out of the elements whenever practical or possible and not letting them flog are good life extenders.

North Sails

Every other year I take my sails to North Sails, where they clean them, do minor mending, and store them for the winter. Last year it cost me about $125 for both.
