I sail a Catalina 310 on Lake Erie and would like to install a clip-on point in the cockpit. I currently have a set of jacklines as well as two pad eyes for the spinnaker blocks mounted aft of the primary winches. I would like to have a clip-on point at the wheel that could be accessed idealy from the cabin. Does the Edson wheel steering pedestal and the wiring for the instruments and auto pilot present any potential problems? Anyone done this? Problems? Results? Any suggestions appreciated.

Clip- On Point for safety Harness

I located my Wichard padeye about 2 inches forward of the base of the steering pedestal. I put a backing plate on as well. If I stretch my arm from the companionway door, by leaning forward through the companionway, I can clip myself on before standing up and coming fully out into the cockpit.
