To meet USCG documentation requirements for net tonnage, the boat usually needs to be about 30' long.
On the CG webpage about documentation there is a form to complete to estimate net tonnage. The form is pretty simple, it needs LOA, beam, draft and a couple of other dimensions.

Be aware this is not the official USCG site. It is a commercial operation that will file the paperwork for you for a fee.5 net tons

@dlochner, You are absolutely correct. I did not check the URL close enough but their info is correct. DO NOT go thru this company for documentation. They will do it , but at an exorbitant fee. Here is the official site.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLooks like you're stuck with state registration numbers on your bow.
