Hello! I'm new to this forum and new to the Hunter Cherubini family. Just purchased a 1980 Cherubini and she is on the hard. I'm not familiar with sailing from behind a wheel, and would love to see some pictures of how you folks run your running rigging. For example, where do you run and cleat the Mail halyard, jib furler line, jib sheets, main sheet... also, I'm not sure this boat has a boom vang. The traveler is mounted just above the companionway. Are your sheets generally accessible from behind the wheel? I know, newbie questions, but hey... no question is stupid.

Thanks :)

Welcome to the forum Kupskius! I too am on Cayuga and also live in Maine on Park Street, behind the Most Holy Rosary Church. I can certainly answer your questions and help with the rigging. I will send a private message to you with my phone number...feel free to call and we can discuss your needs. My H30C is still in Treman Marine Park and we can go take a look at how I have it rigged...at least until hauling it out on Oct. 17th. I've attached a photo which shows the halyards, downhaul, and boom vang setup.

Best Regards...Wayne

Your 1980 version had the halyards run aft to the cabin top left and right of the traveler with turning block organizers at the mast base, cam cleats and winches. Our earlier models had them cleated on the mast as in the pic above..

Welcome to the Cherubini forum.

It seems to me that the running rigging is set up differently on every boat. It's really up to you. I have everything except the reef lines run back to the cockpit on my '82 H30. Attached is a quick plan diagram of the cabintop lines. There are also a few relevant photos in my photo album on this site.

The reef lines do not (yet anyway) come back to the cockpit because I have to go forward to pull the sail glides out of the track and put the reef cringle(s) on the hooks anyway. The genoa furler line runs down the portside deck at the stanchions and through a ratchet block at the toe rail to a cam cleat on the coaming. I changed the original twin deck organizers to stacked twins from Garhauer to accommodate the outhaul, vang and cunningham lines.

Hopefully this provides a useful starting point in developing your own plan and/or figuring how your boat was previously rigged.
