My Beneteau is up on the cradle. I have noticed a bit of up and down play in the rudder...about 1/4". Should I forget about it and go sailing? Just how much play is considered good? Can I make the adjustment? Thanks
Trace back to where the slack occurs. Maybe the pin that passed thru the quadrant/rudder stock is worn. Or maybe the hole in the rudder stock that the pin passes thru is worn. Somewhere, the slack happens - and shouldn't. There should be no movement in your rudder. You could have a very unfavorable experience. Good Luck!
This is when I walk around the yard checking other boats to compare with mine. Remember your rudder floats when the boat is in the water so it will be in the up position.
