My rudder has quite a bit of play. It bumps around so much that I have to lash it up any time I want to sleep on the boat. Is this normal (boat is 1987) or have my connections worn down?

You need...

...to replace the pins in the steering arm. They wear and cause a rattle. You should also place thin teflon washers, top and bottom, while you have the pins and steering link out. e-mail me if you like: outhaul@yahoo.com Cheers, Bob

I agree with Bob

In my experience Bob is right. Over time and how the boat has been moored {bouy or dock} will determine the longevity of the hardware. You can E-mail or call Edson for replacement parts.
