Although I don't have a 280 or 272, I do like to collect pictures for reference, figure they will come in handy, I guess sometimes they do!
The rudder for the 280 should be the same as for the 272 (actually same boat, just different deck). I have a picture of the 272 rudder, but no dimensions... I figured that you could estimate dimensions pretty good off the cockpit dimensions.... then I realized, no go.... the cockpit is different on the 280! OH Well!
If an owner of a 280 or 272 doesn't answer, you should be able to get the dimensions from Rudy Nickerson at D&R Marine (508) 644-3001, he was the Parts Dept. Manager at O'DAY and now runs a little shop suppying parts for our O'DAYs. I think he can make you a new rudder, and it will match the original, but although better than OEM, they are not cheap.

Here are measurements:
